Noles Take Down UNF, 3-1

00

Florida State University issued the following announcement on Nov. 9.

The Florida State volleyball team (18-6) prevailed in four sets (25-12, 25-15, 21-25, 25-23) against North Florida (22-5) Tuesday evening at Tully Gymnasium in a late-season non-conference match.

“I was really pleased with our effort in the first two sets,” Head Coach Chris Poole said. “Give credit to North Florida. They never quit and made that fourth set really difficult for us. I’m proud of the girls for coming back and winning it at the end.”

Trailing 21-18 in the fourth set, the Noles used a 7-2 run on the shoulders of Emery Dupes to take the match. Dupes tallied two aces in the final run and ended the night with a season-high six aces

The Noles dominated the first set, as they hit a staggering .636 on their way to a 25-12 first set victory. Once again, the Noles came out firing in set two taking a 16-8 lead on their way to a 25-15 victory.

The third set was a different story for the Noles, as UNF battled FSU in the early going. With set three tied at 11, the Ospreys extended their lead to four, but the Noles battled back with three straight points to cut the deficit to one. UNF found their groove and were able to snatch set three from the Noles.

Skye Ekes tallied a game-high 13 kills for the Noles while Audrey Koenig added 11 kills on 26 attempts. Lily Tessier made her first appearance back from injury in the third set and made her presence known with three kills and eight assists.

FSU will return to ACC play on Sunday when they travel to Syracuse (16-10) to take on the Orange. First serve is set for noon and the game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
