UNF presents Sports Medicine Symposium with Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program

The University of North Florida Brooks College of Health and Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program will host the 2022 “Sports Medicine Provider Preseason Update and Training: A Holistic Approach” conference for sports medicine providers and educators on Wednesday, July 27, at UNF’s Adam W. Herbert University Center.

The event will feature athletic training workshops including injury and illness prevention and wellness promotion; examination, assessment and diagnosis; and healthcare administration and professional responsibility.

The overall program will teach participants to:

  • Identify common mental health, general medical, and cardiac conditions among student-athletes
  • Implement current functional assessment techniques in the PPE
  • Analyze information obtained from the PPE, including mental wellness and functional and general medical assessments, to determine if further assessment is needed
  • Apply techniques to manage acute emergent orthopedic injuries and general medicine conditions
