U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) recently appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press to discuss a range of topics, including his stance on abortion, the illegal mass migration crisis, and what he sees as hypocrisy in legacy media's coverage of election denial.
Rubio began by expressing his unwavering pro-life stance, stating, “I believe that human life is worthy of dignity and protection, and I support laws that protect our unborn human life.” He also voiced criticism of Democrats' approach to abortion legislation, describing them as "extremists" for their lack of meaningful restrictions on abortion.
He further elaborated on his opposition to the Democrats’ pro-abortion legislation, pointing out its broad definitions and lack of specificity. He said the bill "can [permit abortion] for virtually any reason," and criticized it for allowing non-doctors to perform abortions.
Discussing the possibility of passing 15-week abortion restrictions at the federal level, Rubio acknowledged the current political reality: “A President will never get to sign it because [Congress] won’t be able to pass it." Despite this obstacle, he reaffirmed his commitment to supporting any law that protects unborn human life.
Turning his attention to immigration issues, Rubio expressed concern over rising numbers of illegal immigrants in the U.S., suggesting that there could now be upwards of 20 million or more. He described this situation as an "invasion" and called for dramatic action.
Regarding his opposition to a proposed bipartisan border deal, Rubio took issue with provisions that would allow asylum officers at the border to grant asylum without any appeal process.
Finally, Rubio addressed what he perceives as bias in legacy media's handling of election denial. He pointed out instances where Democrats have contested Republican victories and criticized media outlets for not questioning Democrats about these actions. He also accused major news outlets like NBC News of censoring stories unfavorable to Democrats during the 2020 election cycle.
