Jacksonville University spirit competed in a camp at the Hilton Daytona Beach over the weekend put on by the National Cheerleaders Association and National Dance Alliance.
Both teams placed first in their divisions and captured multiple honors in earning bids to Nationals.
"This was a foundational step for Spirit program as a whole," said Head Coach Christin Norris. "We can use this to build and grow throughout the season as we ultimately prepare for Nationals next April."
The Sirens dance team placed first in the NDA Division I. The team also received Superior Awards for performances in fight song, band chant and team dance categories. Three members of the team were selected as All-Americans; Caroline Grant, Olivia Gonzalez and DJ Jones.
The Cheer team came home in first in the intermediate small coed division for their rally routine. The team also received Superior Awards in the crowd segment and rally routine categories.
The entire Spirit Team received a bid to return to Daytona Beach in April at the Historic Band Shell for Nationals.
Both teams exhibited "high college energy" and received Spirit Sticks, awarded to the most spirited groups by the camp staffers.
