Senator Ashley Moody thanked more than 120 Florida veterans participating in an all-female Flight of Honor to the nation’s capital, according to a March 11 statement. Moody met with the group at the Lincoln Memorial, where she expressed gratitude for their service and sacrifice.
The event highlighted the contributions of female veterans from Florida, ranging in age from 32 to 91, who have served in every branch of the military and participated in conflicts since the Korean War. The group collectively contributed 1,474 years of service to the United States.
“Our freedom exists because of the courage and sacrifice of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. Today, I had the privilege of welcoming a group of Florida veterans as they toured the national memorials honoring their service. This extraordinary group of all-female service members shared powerful stories from their time defending our nation. Though we can never fully repay them for their sacrifice, it was an honor to meet them and offer my heartfelt thanks,” Moody said.
Flights of Honor are organized trips that bring veterans from across America to Washington, D.C., allowing them to visit monuments dedicated to wars in which they served and recognize both their own sacrifices and those made by loved ones. Florida is home to more than 1.4 million veterans, making it one of the states with the largest veteran populations.
Moody has supported several initiatives aimed at assisting military members and veterans since becoming a United States Senator. These include cosponsoring legislation such as the Military Spouse Hiring Act and Major Richard Star Act, introducing measures like the Drone Espionage Act, supporting educational opportunities through acts like VETS Opportunity Act, advocating for accountability within Veterans Affairs, holding town halls with VA officials, requesting advanced aircraft for state bases, and recognizing milestones in naval history.
During her tenure as Florida’s Attorney General, Moody also worked through programs like the Florida Military and Veterans Assistance Program (MVAP), which recovered over $3.7 million for military families affected by scams between 2019 and January 2025.
