U.S. Senator Rick Scott used his social media platform on September 1 and 2, 2025, to call for international support for Israel and advocate for increased measures against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Scott’s posts highlighted ongoing global security concerns and legislative initiatives he is championing.
On September 1, Scott addressed the situation in Israel with a direct message: “It’s a simple choice: stand for freedom or terror. Hamas has murdered, terrorized, and held innocent Israelis hostage for 696 days. Now more than ever, Israel needs the full support of the international community to bring every hostage home and destroy Hamas.”
The following day, Scott shifted focus to Venezuela’s leadership. In an English-language post dated September 2, he stated: “Maduro and his thugs’ threats are yet another reason why we must pass my STOP MADURO Act and raise his bounty to $100,000,000 ASAP.” He reiterated this position in Spanish within minutes: “Las amenazas de Maduro y sus matones son otra razón por la que debemos aprobar mi Ley STOP MADURO y aumentar su recompensa a 100.000.000 de dólares lo antes posible.”
Rick Scott serves as a U.S. Senator from Florida and has been vocal on issues related to foreign policy involving both the Middle East and Latin America. His proposed STOP MADURO Act aims to increase pressure on Nicolás Maduro’s government through heightened sanctions and incentives for prosecution.
Israel has faced ongoing conflict with Hamas since October 2023, marked by violence and hostage situations that have drawn calls for international intervention. The United States maintains a long-standing policy of supporting Israel’s right to defend itself.
In Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro’s administration has been subject to criticism from U.S. lawmakers due to allegations of human rights abuses and political repression. Previous legislative efforts have included imposing sanctions on Venezuelan officials and offering rewards for information leading to their prosecution.
