Senator Rick Scott marked the fourth anniversary of the ‘Patria y Vida’ movement in Cuba and criticized Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell’s management in a series of posts on July 11, 2025.

In his first post, Scott stated, “On July 11th, we join in solidarity with the people of Cuba and its brave freedom fighters to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the ‘Patria y Vida’ movement – when the brave Cuban people took to the streets to speak out against the illegitimate, Communist Cuban regime.” The statement was posted on July 11, 2025.

A similar message was shared by Scott in Spanish later that day.

Later on July 11, Scott turned his attention to domestic issues, criticizing Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell. He posted, “Jay Powell has totally mismanaged the Fed at American taxpayers’ expense, and to top it all off, now he’s wasting money on a luxury office renovation… It’s out of control. Americans deserve answers! Glad to see this administration taking action to hold the Federal Reserve”.

The ‘Patria y Vida’ movement began with widespread protests across Cuba on July 11, 2021. Demonstrators called for greater freedoms and an end to decades of communist rule. The phrase “Patria y Vida,” meaning “Homeland and Life,” became a rallying cry for those opposing the government.
