Rick Scott, U.S. Senator representing Florida, posted a series of tweets on February 12, 2026, addressing issues related to Venezuela and the U.S. national debt.
In two posts published at the same time, Scott drew attention to the case of three Venezuelan police officers. The same message was posted in English: “Héctor Rovaín, Erasmo Bolívar, and Luis Molina are three brave Venezuelan police officers who stood up to Hugo Chávez’s brutal regime to defend the Venezuelan people. For doing their duty, they were sentenced to 30 years in prison — and have already spent 22 years behind bars.”
Later that day, Scott criticized media coverage of economic issues in another tweet: “The national debt increased by nearly $10 TRILLION during the Biden admin, but according to ABC it’s President Trump’s fault for cutting your taxes. You don’t distrust the corporate media enough.”
Scott has served as a U.S. Senator from Florida since January 2019 and currently chairs the Senate Special Committee on Aging while holding seats on several other committees such as Budget and Foreign Relations (official website). His district offices are located throughout Florida in cities including Naples and Orlando. Prior to his political career, Scott served in the U.S. Navy and co-founded a healthcare company.
