Rick Scott, U.S. Senator from Florida, posted a series of tweets on July 16, 2025, addressing various political topics and extending birthday wishes to a colleague.

In his first post of the day at 11:19 a.m., Scott wrote, “Happy birthday, @SenatorBanks!”

Later that afternoon at 4:00 p.m., Scott commented on New York State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani’s visit to Washington D.C., stating, “Heard Mamdani was in our nation’s capital promoting his radical, socialist policies. Socialism has NEVER worked. Maybe Mamdani should come to Florida and talk to the incredible Cuban and Venezuelan communities—they can tell him what living under a socialist regime is really”.

At 5:41 p.m., Scott addressed Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell’s leadership following remarks by President Biden. He posted, “This change can’t come fast enough. @POTUS is right — Jay Powell has failed American families, and he MUST go!”

Rick Scott has frequently criticized socialism and its impact on communities with roots in countries such as Cuba and Venezuela. Florida is home to large populations from both nations who have often voiced opposition to socialist governments based on their personal experiences.

The senator’s comments about Jay Powell reflect ongoing debates regarding the Federal Reserve’s handling of inflation and economic policy during recent years.
