Rick Scott, U.S. Senator from Florida, has recently used his social media platform to comment on a range of issues, including government shutdowns, U.S.-China relations, and support for democracy in Venezuela.

On October 9, 2025, Scott criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in a post about the ongoing government shutdown. He wrote: “Every day might get better for @SenSchumer, but you know who it doesn’t get better for? Our troops & the hardworking families whose daily lives & paychecks are at risk thanks to Schumer’s Shutdown. Republicans are ready to reopen the government. Why aren’t Dems?”

The following day, October 10, 2025, Scott addressed actions taken by Secretary Howard Lutnick of the Department of Commerce regarding Chinese companies supplying drones to terrorist organizations. In his post he stated: “Great to see @CommerceGov Sec. @howardlutnick take action to protect American interests and hold Communist Chinese companies accountable for giving drones to terrorist organizations. The CCP has proven to be our enemy, and it’s time we act like it.”

Later that same day, Scott expressed support for Maria Corina Machado in Venezuela. He posted: “Great to see @MariaCorinaYa, a hero and freedom and democracy leader in Venezuela, receive this award. I am proud to call Maria a friend and have been inspired by her bravery, risking her life to stand up to Maduro and his thuggish dictatorship so the people of Venezuela can have”

Senator Rick Scott has been an outspoken critic of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), frequently calling for increased scrutiny on Chinese companies due to concerns about national security and alleged links with foreign adversaries. He has also been vocal about supporting democratic movements in Latin America and has consistently criticized policies or actions he perceives as threats to American interests or global democracy.
