Rick Scott, U.S. Senator from Florida and former governor of the state, posted a series of statements on November 16, 2025, addressing issues ranging from disaster response to healthcare reform and economic affordability.

In a post on November 16, Scott referenced his participation in a Senate Aging Committee hearing related to a recent fire affecting seniors in the Palisades area. He wrote: “I was in the Palisades this week leading a @SenateAging hearing on this fire because many of these victims are seniors. This is infuriating and further evidence of the unbelievable incompetence by local and state government that our witnesses exposed in Thursday’s hearing.”

Later that day, Scott criticized the Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare), stating: “Obamacare has failed American families and driven up their costs. So let’s fix it! Let’s STOP giving $$ to insurance companies, and instead, direct any support to Americans, letting them be the consumers. Families will always make better choices for themselves than the”.

In another post on November 16, Scott discussed his personal background and policy focus: “Growing up, I watched my family struggle to make ends meet, which is why I’m focused on making life more affordable for every American. Here’s how we do it “.

Scott’s comments come amid ongoing debates about federal disaster response efficiency and healthcare policy reforms in the United States. The Senate Special Committee on Aging frequently examines issues impacting older Americans, including emergency preparedness and response failures at various levels of government. The Affordable Care Act remains a contentious topic among lawmakers; critics argue it has increased costs for some families while supporters contend it expanded coverage nationwide.
