Senator Rick Scott, a Republican representing Florida, addressed several national and international issues in a series of posts on October 17, 2025.

In a statement criticizing the Affordable Care Act, Scott echoed another Senate leader, writing, “.@LeaderJohnThune is right. Obamacare has failed, and we have to fix it to actually lower the cost of health care for families. We can give Americans more choice and lower costs without kicking anyone off their health insurance. But Democrats have to reopen the government” (October 17, 2025).

Later that day, Scott thanked Federal Aviation Administration employees for continuing their work during a federal government shutdown. He also criticized Democratic lawmakers for their role in the ongoing impasse: “Thanks to the hardworking FAA employees who are still showing up for their jobs and working hard during the Schumer Shutdown. Anyone who fails to do their job shouldn’t get a taxpayer-funded salary — that includes @SenSchumer and Dems in Congress who are causing this shutdown.” (October 17, 2025).

In a third post, Scott addressed Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in Spanish, referencing President Biden: “.@NicolasMaduro, escuchaste a @POTUS alto y claro. ¡GRACIAS POR SU ATENCIÓN A ESTE ASUNTO!” (October 17, 2025).

The comments from Scott come amid ongoing debates in Congress regarding government funding and health care policy. The term “Schumer Shutdown” refers to partisan disputes over appropriations that result in lapses in federal funding. Senator Chuck Schumer is the Senate Majority Leader often associated with such negotiations.

Scott’s mention of President Biden’s message to Nicolás Maduro follows continued U.S. engagement with Venezuela over political and humanitarian concerns.
