U.S. Senator Rick Scott, who represents Florida and serves as chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Aging, used his social media account to criticize California officials and address the impact of recent government actions on service members.

On February 20, 2026, Scott posted about the aftermath of a wildfire in Pacific Palisades: “13,000+ homes were destroyed in the Pacific Palisades Wildfire, and only 28 were rebuilt. These families deserve answers, and @SenRonJohnson and I won’t stop until we get them. @CAgovernor Newsom and @MayorOfLA Bass failed these families. They must be held accountable.”

Later that day, he continued his criticism of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass with another post: ” BREAKING: @MayorOfLA Karen Bass has been EXPOSED. As families searched for precious belongings in the ashes of their homes, Bass was focused on protecting her reputation. Mayor Bass has failed to give us the records and this is inexcusable. It’s time for Bass to testify” (February 20, 2026).

On February 21, 2026, Scott addressed concerns about military pay during a government shutdown: “Our brave service members in the U.S. Coast Guard won’t see paychecks this week because Democrats shut down the government. My democrat colleagues would rather play politics than support and PAY the American troops protecting our nation… https://t.co/tSoIRjOwA3”

Scott holds seats on several Senate committees including Budget, Armed Services, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and Foreign Relations (official website). He assumed office as U.S. Senator from Florida in January 2019 after a career that included service in the U.S. Navy and co-founding a healthcare company (official website). Through his website and public statements, Scott regularly addresses national issues affecting both Florida residents and broader U.S. policy (official website).
