His case has drawn widespread international attention due to concerns over press freedom and human rights in Hong Kong.
In a third statement posted later on July 23, Scott addressed Senate procedures regarding presidential appointments: “President Trump MUST have his full team in place. As Senate Republicans, we should do whatever it takes to stop Democrats’ delays and confirm all of @POTUS’ nominees ASAP!” The process of confirming presidential nominees has historically been contentious when control of the Senate is divided or closely contested.
