Rick Scott, U.S. Senator from Florida, has recently used his social media platform to address ongoing international crises, including the situation of hostages held by Hamas and political oppression in Venezuela.

On August 12, 2025, Scott posted about the aftermath of the Holocaust and recent violence against Jewish people: “After the Holocaust, the world vowed, ‘Never Again.’ Yet 676 days ago, Hamas terrorists unleashed death and destruction on the Jewish people, again. We must bring every hostage home, and we can NEVER let this happen again. “

The following day, August 13, he drew attention to individuals reportedly held captive by Hamas: “For 677 days, innocent people like Evyatar and Guy have been held hostage by Hamas terrorists. They are starving, suffering, and running out of time. This cruelty must end—it’s a matter of life or death. Bring them all home!”

Later that same day, Scott thanked President Joe Biden and former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi for their stance on Latin American democracy: “Thank you, @POTUS and @AGPamBondi, for standing up for freedom and democracy in Latin America. Maduro and his thuggish regime are evil and will stop at nothing to oppress and steal from the Venezuelan people. We must keep holding him accountable for his crimes!”

These posts come amid ongoing concerns about hostages taken during the October 7 attacks in Israel attributed to Hamas militants. The situation has drawn widespread international condemnation as families continue to seek information about their loved ones’ fates.

In addition to Middle East issues, Scott referenced Nicolás Maduro’s government in Venezuela—a regime widely criticized by human rights organizations for its record on civil liberties and political freedoms.

Senator Rick Scott’s statements reflect continued advocacy for both the release of hostages in conflict zones and accountability for authoritarian regimes worldwide.
