U.S. Senator Rick Scott of Florida addressed several national issues on his Twitter account on February 21, 2026, including government funding, wildfire prevention in California, and a public tribute to actor Eric Dane.

On the subject of the federal government shutdown and its impact on military pay, Scott wrote: ” Democrats need to show up, do their JOB, and REOPEN the government so our service members get paid.  There’s a simple solution to ensuring members of our U.S. Coast Guard get their paychecks — democrats STOP playing political games.” (February 21, 2026).

Later that day, Scott criticized comments by the Mayor of Los Angeles regarding wildfire prevention efforts: “Are you serious?! A flat out LIE from @MayorOfLA about preventing the Palisades fires. @SenRonJohnson and I are demanding the TRUTH. This preventable tragedy costs lives and THOUSANDS of homes lost. California deserves better than this “ (February 21, 2026).

In another post, Scott referenced actor Eric Dane: “Powerful words from Eric Dane in his last days. Everyone should watch this.” (February 21, 2026).

Scott serves as chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Aging for the 119th Congress and holds seats on several other key committees such as Budget, Armed Services, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and Foreign Relations (official website). He represents Florida in the U.S. Senate with district offices across multiple cities in the state including Naples and Tampa (official website). Before entering politics in January 2019, he served in the U.S. Navy and co-founded a healthcare company (official website). Scott regularly communicates legislative initiatives and policy positions through official channels online.
