Rep. John Rutherford, who represents Florida’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on state fisheries management, community engagement, and Veterans Day through a series of posts on his official account.
On November 10, 2025, Rutherford announced Florida’s request for an extended red snapper fishing season in the South Atlantic for 2026: “BREAKING NEWS: Florida has requested a 39-day South Atlantic red snapper season for 2026! That would be 37 days longer than this year. Thank you, @GovRonDeSantis for your leadership on state management of this fishery and longer red snapper seasons. I look forward to working”.
Later that day, he highlighted his participation in service academy nomination interviews: “This Saturday, I joined members of our community to conduct service academy nomination interviews for Florida’s Fifth District. We met with an impressive group of young adults interested in serving our great country and attending one of our nation’s four service academies.”
On November 11, Rutherford marked Veterans Day by posting: “America is the land of the free because of the brave. Happy Veterans Day to all the brave men and women who stepped up to serve something far greater than themselves. THANK YOU for making America the incredible place it is today! “
