Columbia College Chair of the Board of Trustees Rev. Dr. Brad Stagg announced the selection of Regan French-Ubiñas as the college’s new General Counsel following a national search. French-Ubiñas joined CC in 2020 as associate director for Grants and Foundations and will assume her new position beginning March 13, 2023.
In this role, French-Ubiñas will report to the Board of Trustees and advise the group along with President Dr. David Russell and key officials on legal and regulatory matters, policies and procedures. She will also maintain expertise on existing and evolving federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to the college and its 15-state, 40-plus-location footprint.
“We are very pleased to elevate Regan to this new role at CC,” Stagg said. “The opportunity to have a staff member of Regan’s caliber in this position is crucial. She brings both deep institutional knowledge and 12 years of experience in the legal field to the position, both of which will be vital to the success of the institution.”
Before her tenure in the college’s Advancement Division, French-Ubiñas served as corporate counsel for MIQ Logistics in Kansas City, Missouri, for 12 years, handling risk, legal, insurance and compliance for the multi-national logistics company. She also focused on commercial transactions, real estate transactions, transportation laws, regulations and compliance.

French-Ubiñas earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2001 from the University of Kansas and then secured her juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2004.
