Ramirez Receives SIAC Newcomer of the Week Honors

The SIAC office has selected sophomore Fatima Ramirez as the conference’s Women’s Volleyball Newcomer of the Week during their weekly awards announcements on Tuesday afternoon. For Ramirez, it is her first career SIAC award.

The 6’2 outside hitter/right side from Belmopan, Belize helped lead Edward Waters to a 2-1 week during last week’s action. In three games against conference foes Fort Valley State, Spring Hill, and Tuskegee, Ramirez collected 39 kills, 30 digs, four service aces, and four blocks.

Against Fort Valley State, she had nine kills while against Tuskegee she added a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. Her best performance came against Spring Hill with 17 kills, nine digs, two blocks, and one service ace.
