Four program records were broken by the North Florida Swimming team on the first day of the 2026 ASUN Championships, which began Wednesday at the Rosen Aquatic Center in Orlando.
Sophomore Abby Noga established a new school record in the 50 Freestyle during preliminaries with a time of 23.31 seconds, surpassing the previous mark set by Ashley Kephart at last year’s championships. Noga then improved her own record in the event finals, finishing in 23.18 seconds.
In relay competition, Katie Carlos (sophomore), Victoria Torres (senior), Kayla Daley (junior), and Noga combined to set a new program best in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:41.84.
Daley also achieved an individual milestone by breaking Sara Evans’ 2012 record in the 200 Individual Medley, posting a finals time of 2:03.37.
Head Coach Ian Coffey commented on the team’s performance: “This was the best first day in my time here at North Florida at a championship. We started off the morning session strong with good swims from both the 500 Freestyle and 200 IM groups. The 50 Freestyle was super fast today and we had five swimmers make it back at night with Abby Noga breaking the program record.”
He continued: “The night session started off with excitement with Katie Carlos, Victoria Torres, Kayla Daley, and Abby Noga breaking the program record in the 200 Medley Relay. In the 500 Freestyle, Grace Burton and Skyler Jansen stepped up and improved their times from the morning. Paige Munna won the B Final in the 500 Freestyle. In the 200 Individual Medley, Kayla Daley broke the program record while winning the B Final. To finish off the session, Abby Noga broke her own record again with a fifth-place finish in the Finals. It was a great start to the meet. A total team effort. We’re looking forward to tomorrow morning in Session 3”.
North Florida is scheduled to continue competing on Thursday for Day Two of championships beginning at 10 a.m.
