North Florida Softball was defeated by No. 4/5 Florida with a score of 10-0 on Wednesday evening at the UNF Softball Complex in Jacksonville, Florida.

Florida established an early lead in the first inning with two home runs, resulting in a 3-0 advantage. The Gators continued to add to their lead over the next four innings.

For North Florida, redshirt junior outfielder Kalyn McCarthy hit a double down the right field line in the third inning, marking her second extra base hit of the season. Other notable performances for North Florida included Caiden Oliva and Hannah Davila, who each recorded a hit. On the mound, Cameron Ponich took the loss after pitching 0.1 innings and allowing three earned runs.

Florida’s offense was led by Jocelyn Erickson, who went 2-for-2 with two home runs and three RBIs. Kenleigh Cahalan contributed with a home run as part of her three hits, while Kendall Grover and Ava Brown also homered. Brown pitched five shutout innings for Florida, allowing only two hits and striking out two batters.

The Ospreys will travel to Phoenix, Arizona for their next games at the Purple Classic hosted by Grand Canyon University from February 20 to February 22.
