Junior swimmer Kayla Daley set a new program record in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 54.30 seconds, finishing third on Thursday at the 2026 ASUN Championships held at the Rosen Aquatic Center in Orlando, Florida. This result makes Daley the first athlete from North Florida to earn All-ASUN honors in swimming.
Sophomore Abby Noga also broke a school record during the event. She posted a 23.10-second leadoff split in the 200 Freestyle Relay, marking her third time surpassing the program’s 50 Freestyle record at these championships.
Head Coach Ian Coffey commented on the team’s performance: “Another great day for our swimmers, as we finished up Session Three and Four. In Session Three, we started off the morning with four of our swimmers making it back in the 100 Butterfly,” Coffey said. “Brooke Bourn swam a personal-best time in the event. Our three swimmers in the 400 Individual Medley made it back at night as well, and we finished the morning session with four swimmers returning for the Finals in the 200 Freestyle.”
Coffey continued: “In Session Four, Abby Noga led off the 200 Freestyle Relay in 23.10 of her third time breaking the 50 Freestyle program record. Next in the 100 Butterfly, Reeves Showfety and Riley McCormick improved their times from the morning session. Kayla Daley made UNF Swimming history by placing third overall with a new program record in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 54.30. Kayla is the first North Florida swimmer to place in the top three at the ASUN Championships and earn a medal. Our 400 Individual Medley group all improved their times from the morning. We finished up with some good swims in the 200 Freestyle and the 400 Medley Relay. We’re halfway through the meet and I’m pleased on where we are. The meet is far from over, but we trained all year to finish strong on the last four sessions.”
The North Florida team will continue competing on Friday, February 20, as Day Three of competition begins at 10 a.m.
