Representative John Rutherford, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 5th district since 2017, recently shared several messages on social media reflecting on historical and contemporary events. On May 8, 2025, Rutherford commemorated World War II veterans by acknowledging their contributions to securing freedom globally. Today, we honor them and celebrate our victory over tyranny.”
Later that day, he expressed congratulations on a significant religious milestone: “Habemus Papam! Congratulations to Pope Leo XIV, the first ever American Pope. May God give him the strength and wisdom to guide his papacy. Ad multos annos!” This message came following the election of Pope Leo XIV as head of the Catholic Church.
The following day, May 9, 2025, Rutherford paid tribute to military spouses for their sacrifices: “Today, we honor our nation’s military spouses. We thank you for the sacrifices and selfless contributions you make every day to help preserve the liberties we hold dear.” His acknowledgment highlights his appreciation for those supporting military personnel.
