Rep. John Rutherford, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 5th district since 2017, has recently shared several updates on social media highlighting his support for local entrepreneurs, educators, and law enforcement programs.
On May 5, Rep. Rutherford expressed gratitude towards small businesses in Northeast Florida. He stated that these enterprises are “the foundation of our economy” and acknowledged the hard work of entrepreneurs who create jobs and contribute to economic growth. The full post can be viewed here.
The following day, May 6, he recognized Teacher Appreciation Day by thanking educators in his community and across the nation. In his message, he praised them for their role in making schools environments where students can “learn, grow, and thrive.” His statement is available here.
Later on May 6, Rep. Rutherford attended a Homeland Security Subcommittee hearing where he celebrated the success of the 287g program. He expressed appreciation to Secretary Noem for supporting this initiative which aims to enhance cooperation between local law enforcement officers and federal ICE agents. John Rutherford was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1952 and currently resides in Jacksonville. He graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
