The Jacksonville Dolphins have been selected as the top team in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Preseason Poll, according to votes from league coaches. The Dolphins secured five first-place votes, more than any other team in the poll.
Last season, Jacksonville finished second at the MAAC Championships after tying Fairfield with 47 points. Fairfield won the tiebreaker by finishing ahead of Jacksonville in the Varsity 8+ event.
Looking ahead, Jacksonville aims to win its 10th MAAC title in program history. Under head coach Mike Lane, who has led the team to six conference championships—including consecutive wins from 2022 to 2024—the Dolphins hope to improve on last year’s performance.
Jacksonville will open its 50th season of women’s rowing next month with a race against Villanova University in Gainesville, Florida, scheduled for March 6. The season will build toward the MAAC Championships set for May 17.
The preseason poll ranked Marist and Fairfield tied for second place with two and one first-place votes respectively. Sacred Heart was placed fourth and received one first-place vote. Stetson, Canisius, Drake, Iona, and Merrimack rounded out the poll.
