Many city offices and facilities in Jacksonville will be closed on Monday, September 1, in observance of Labor Day. The closures affect several locations, including City Hall at St. James, the Ed Ball Building, Jake M. Godbold City Hall Annex, and the Yates Building. Other affected sites include the Duval County Courthouse, Supervisor of Elections main office, Municipal Code Compliance Division, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department administrative offices, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department offices, all community and senior centers managed by that department, Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park Nature Center, Victim Services Center, Kids Hope Alliance (also closed Saturday), Social Service Division Emergency Assistance office, Right-of-Way and Stormwater Management Division administrative offices, Mowing and Landscape Maintenance Division administrative offices, Solid Waste Division administrative offices, Household Hazardous Waste Facility, Ritz Theatre & Museum, and Cecil Gym and Fitness Center.

Garbage, recycling and yard waste collection services will not change for the holiday.

The city’s 630-CITY Customer Service Center will be closed from Monday through 8am Tuesday. Residents can request city services online at myjax.custhelp.com during this period.

Animal Care & Protective Services (ACPS) will remain open for adoptions from noon to 4pm on September 1.

All branches of the Jacksonville Public Library will close on Labor Day but are scheduled to reopen for regular hours on Tuesday.

Outdoor pools are open over the holiday weekend: Saturday from 11am to 6pm; Sunday from 2pm to 6pm; and Monday from 11am to 6pm. Pool season ends after Labor Day. Cecil Aquatics has similar hours with a maintenance closure daily from noon to 1pm.

At Boone Park Center tennis facilities will be open on September 1 from 9am to 4:30pm; other tennis centers offer only access to Pickleball and Hard courts that day.

Huguenot Memorial Park is scheduled for extended hours over Labor Day weekend but may close temporarily due to high tides or unsafe conditions. High tide times vary each day of the weekend. The north end of Huguenot Peninsula remains closed to vehicles because of nesting shorebirds protected under federal law.

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park will open at its usual time with early bird entry available for pass holders between 6am-8am; general admission runs until evening closing at 8pm. Campground visitors must adhere to check-in rules regarding arrival times and reservation requirements.
