Dangerous and Life-Threatening Conditions Due to Hurricane Fiona and Incoming Cold Front

Ocean Rescue Lifeguards have issued a Beach Safety Alert starting today, September 22, through the weekend, due to a period of dangerous and life-threatening beach conditions from Hurricane Fiona and an incoming cold front.

Lifeguards advise all swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Highly experienced swimmers who choose to go in the water should swim near a lifeguard and never be alone. If caught in a rip current, relax, don’t swim against the current. If able, swim in a diagonal direction following the shoreline, back to shore.
